Cameroon’s refinery sector revival: SONARA restructuring & new private partnerships

Following recent government reforms and the modernization of the Limbe refinery (SONARA), E.M.E. HOLDINGS is exploring downstream opportunities including a modular refinery unit in Douala. The new hydrocarbon code opens doors for private off-take agreements and local processing of crude from the Logbaba field.

E.M.E. signs MoU for small-scale refinery & bitumen plant in Kribi

In line with the government's strategy to decentralize refining capacity, the group plans a 5,000 bpd modular unit (investment ~100M XAF) to produce diesel, heavy fuel oil, and bitumen for the domestic market. Construction expected Q1 2027.
